MWTravel

One minute we’re in the mountains of Bhutan. The next, finding the perfect angle of an iconic hotel in Cape Town. We’ve always loved luxury travel and somehow turned it into our life.

Welcome to our world

Digital Postcards

A collection of scenes and moments gathered throughout our travels.

People

We’ve always been drawn to natural moments over posed shots. We’d usually rather take a step back than direct a scene. Some of our favourite photographs have come from moments we never expected.

Stays

Perfectly staged hotel photos have never really been our thing. We’d always rather capture the feeling of a place than make it look like a showroom. Lifestyle, atmosphere and the in-between moments are what we’re drawn to most.

Places

For a long time Asia was our comfort zone, but lately we’ve loved discovering completely new landscapes and cultures beyond it. Africa especially has left a huge impression on us. We never want our images to feel overworked or too polished. The feeling of actually being there matters much more to us.

Matt and Wahyu’s Travel Story

One swipe right in Bali was apparently all it took. Four years later we’re still together, still travelling and still finding it funny that we both kept our competing hotel jobs a secret at the start. Healthy communication from day one.

Read the story behind the swipe.

Matt’s personality improves in direct proportion to complimentary champagne.

Wahyu has heard enough versions of his name to start a new identity.

From the field

Stories from our travels.

Bhutan / Yes, we lived there

A table set with two empty wine glasses, a bottle of red wine, a small plate of green grapes, a kiwi, and two egg tarts; a paper table number holder with the number 'Mathew & Wenyu' written on it; and a person's hands slicing an egg tart with a knife.

Lisbon / One more Pastel de Nata please

View of a sunset over the ocean seen through an open door with sheer curtains and a thatched roof hut, possibly from a bungalow or beachside resort balcony at dusk.

Maldives / Undeniable guilty pleasure

The challenge is always the same: how do you make a place feel alive, without turning it into a cliché?

A small otter sitting on a rocky cliffside covered with green bushes near the ocean.
Pink multi-story building with white railings and balconies, tall palm trees with green fronds in front, blue sky in background.
Two boat crew members, wearing white shirts with rank insignias, standing at the helm of a boat on the ocean. One is steering, and the other is near him. Both are wearing dark sunglasses. The ocean is visible in the background with a clear blue sky.
A view of a restaurant or dining area through large open windows, showing a table set for a meal with chairs, and outdoor umbrellas with trees and greenery outside.
